Paul Holmes MP opens ECOskies Renewable Energy Training Centre12.00.00am GMT Fri 9th Nov 2007
Chesterfield MP Paul Holmes today officially opened the ECOskies Renewable Energy Training Centre at Markham Vale. The fantastic new training centre is on the M1 Commerce Park, near the new junction 29a. The centre is the country's first dedicated renewable energy training centre offering courses for installers in renewable energy technologies including: solar hot water, solar photovoltaic, wind turbines, ground-source and air-source heat pumps. At today's launch a number of free 45 minutes seminars were offered to tell people about the different types of renewable energy. Paul Holmes spoke about the need for these types of energy and the impacts of Climate Change whilst Dimplex explained their product, the heat pump and how ECOskies are one of only two training centres in the Country to be able to give accredited training to fit it. Paul Holmes MP said 'I am proud to say that ECOskies is within my constituency. It is an excellent resource, which Steve, Louisa and the team have worked hard on. Much of the interior of the centre has been built from reclaimed materials to lesson the environmental impact. ECOskies are leading the field in offering training for a new, vital form of energy installation, which would tackle global warming and cut fuel bills.' 'We now need a clearer lead and incentive from the Government to create the demand for widespread installation of this type of technology in our homes and workplaces. Other countries such as Germany are well ahead of us in tackling climate change in this way with regard to brand new houses and old stock and we should be following their example.' The launch of the centre, situated on the site of the old Duckmanton colliery, symbolises the passing of old and the emergence the new. ECOskies Managing Director Louisa McAndrew said: "The passing of the coal industry hit this area very hard but we are delighted to be putting new life into the old colliery site, it feels right, fossil fuels are of the past and renewable energy is very much of the future." ENDS Notes to editors: ECOSkies are located at: ECOSkies Ltd Unit 70 M1 Commerce Park Duckmanton Chesterfield S44 5HS 0845 2301 101 (local rate) www.ecoskies.com
