Chesterfield Lib Dems Attend College Fresher's Fair

Chesterfield Lib Dems attended Chesterfield College's Fresher's Fair, held on the 15th and 16th of September to welcome new students and to find out what issues they think are important locally and nationally.

At the event, over 150 people signed our petition on reducing the voting age to 16, which shows there is a lot of support for this and letting more young people have their say on important issues, like next year's EU Referendum. If 16 and 17 year olds could vote politicians would have to listen more carefully to their views. The petition is available to sign here

We also asked students to fill in a survey on issues relevant to them and many did. There was a lot of support for Liberal Democrat ideas like making bus travel to college cheaper (9 out of 10 agreed), providing more apprenticeship places and making sure the amount we spend on further education isn't reduced (both had 100% agreement).
