MP slams Government decision to lift ban on fracking

Commenting on the announcement from the Government that they are lifting the ban on fracking in England, Cumbrian MP Tim Farron said: "Any shale gas produced by fracking in this country will just be sold at the same ludicrously high price as all other forms of gas.

"We also know that fracking causes earthquakes, pollution of waterways and is completely detrimental to our environment.

"If the Government wants to find solutions to the energy crisis, they should be investing in renewables which are fast, clean and cheap - instead of doing something that won't affect anyone's energy bills but will damage our environment."
